11/06/2019 / Logroño, Rioja Alta Wine Route
Around the 11th of June and being the Day of La Rioja on June 9th, Logroño celebrates the patronal feasts of Saint Barnabas, remembering the victory that took place in 1521 against the French army in which Logroño resisted the siege of 30,000 Frenchmen.
Tradition has it that the fish that were fished in a furtive way, the wine kept in the cellars and the bread made from the wheat of the granaries were the food that allowed the people of Logroño to survive at the time of the battle.
Due to that, during the feast they are celebrated a number of rituals honoring what happened. Some days in which the joy of people in Logroño floods the streets, full of events.
